The Riviera Factory

The Riviera Factory, was founded by the Brother Vuckovic, in 1907. They manufactured a lot of quality products for the local market, and also exported their goods, to another countries in Europa. The factory wonseveral very important awards and recognitions; the first one was in France, and the second one, was in England ( these are two of the only international awards recognized worldwide, obtained by Montenegro, at this moment). Also, they provided more than 500 employements.

 

1907

Creation of the Riviera Kotor

The Vuckovic Brother’s, started their business in Kotor, Montenegro, in early 1907. With Darinka’s knowlwdge, they learned of the Merima’s Soap Factory of Krusevac, Sothern Serbia, where Darinka and his sons worked.
In the beginning, Riviera manufactured soaps, caustic soda, and olive oil. After that, the Factory increased in a variety of products, such as facial creams, body creams, mouth deodorants, tooth paste, olive oil soap, and also nitroglicerine.

1927

First Grand Prix (Paris, France)

Due to the excellence of the products manufactured, Riviera obtained an international recognition award, in the Annual Exposition Fair in France, in 1927. The quality of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil, produced by them, was recogniced with the highest quality award (It won the first price, gold medal).

1932

Second Grand Prix (London, England)

The Factory was awarded by another international recognition, in the Annual ExpositionFair in London, England in the 1932, due to the exceptional quality of the Olive Oil Riviera.
The Riviera once again won the top award in London. The phisical document that supports this, is currently located in the Montenegrin Chamber of Commerce, in Podgorica.

His logo design and advertising lithographs were made by Sergej Glumac, the most prominent artist of the Royal Yugoslavia, recognized locally as well as internationally.

1945-1992

Self-Management process

The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, was formed, and the Riviera Factory becomes property of the workers.This process is knowna s the Self Management Process, and aroses, as a result of the state inability to continue maintening the state-owned-factories, due to the large public expenditure, they caused in relation to their profitability.

1992-1997

Ilegitime privatization of the Riviera Kotor Factory

Period of privatization, after the self-management process and subsequent bankruptcy. During those years, The Balkan War took place, the fall of the regime, the division of the Republics that made end the last Yugoslavia. It was the beggining of new claims to the ex state of Serbia and Montenegro, demanding for the restitution of our properties.

2006

Beginning of new claims demanding restitutions

Beginning of new claims to the new State of Montenegro demanding the restitution after the separation of Serbia.
Currently, the claim is still pending and the case is delayed, and moved from the MInistry of Economy to the Ministry of Finance, always with refuses and excuses.
